PETROVIC DIGEST

1.       Results

En Ezidy has requested all scholars to please email their semester results to him preliminary to having the university email your results to him. Please email your semester results to En Ezidy at petronas.advisor@bigpond.com and CC it to petsa@acay.com.au.

2.       Semester BBQ

We’re excited to let you know that this semester’s barbecue will be hosted by the Monash Petrovic kids! Take this opportunity to head over to Clayton (as it’s only fair, because we make them drag themselves all the way to the city!) and experience the difference!

Place     : Rusden House, Monash University Clayton

                  662 Blackburn Road, Clayton

Date      : 10th August 2008

Time      : 1030 am until 130 pm

The Petrovic Committee will probably organize going together some time in the morning if anyone’s concerned about losing their way, so join us and let’s get lost together!

3.       MASCA Games Reimbursement

There are two parts to this:

Firstly, can people please email me the list of events which Petrovic scholars participated in, and their results as well as pictures so I can put this up on our website (we’re proud of you, no matter how you did).

Secondly, and this is incentive for all those who participated, can you please email me your name, university and contact details. Petronas scholars were partially sponsored by Petronas, however, as Petrovic was unaware of this, we are collecting retrospective claims from all you athletes out there so we can reimburse part of your travel costs. I am unsure as to how much we are claiming for, but any money is good money!

Thanks guys! Hoping to see all of you at the first second semester activity, and until then, enjoy what’s left of the holidays!!

3.       FIESTA MALAYSIA MELBOURNE (Forwarded Message)

Hi everyone,

We're from the Fiesta Committee, the external committee made up of 8 (yes, count them) Malaysian student clubs including MASCA (Malaysia Students Council of Australia), KUAM (Kelab UMNO Australia Melbourne), MoMU (Malaysians of Melbourne Uni), MASS Caulfield (Malaysian Students Society Caulfield), MSA La Trobe (Malaysian Students Association La Trobe), KDMM (Kelab Dewan Malaysia Melbourne), Petrovic (Petronas Victoria Club) and ASDS (Australian Sime Darby Scholars).

We're organizing Fiesta Malaysia this year, an Independence Day celebration this 31st of August, which will feature cultural performances, interactive events and of course, food.

We need help from ALL OF YOU. Yes, all of you. Every bit of help is appreciated.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1.       JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP.

Please look us up on Facebook, and join the group Fiesta Malaysia (Melbourne). We will update general updates here, as well as reach out for help. Be active in the discussion boards, we welcome all ideas.

Secondly, and this is very important for us, please RSVP the Fiesta Malaysia 2008 event. Please do it on Facebook, and please invite ALL YOUR FRIENDS and ask them to RSVP there, this is important for us to present to our sponsors. It takes almost no time to invite people, and there's no obligation otherwise.

2.       VOLUNTEER.

We appreciate all volunteers – there will be heaps to do on the day, so if you just want to learn the ins and outs of organizing an event on this scale, if you want to gain exposure, if you want to meet new people, there are lots of things on the day that we will appreciate your time! It'll look great on your CV and training will be provided.

3.       LET US KNOW ABOUT SPONSORSHIP.

Ah, the beautiful thing about organizing events that is sponsorship. If you know anyone interested in sponsoring, or if you have contacts to companies that might be interested, please let us know!

Please forward all enquiries to info@fiestamalaysia.org, or visit us at www.fiestamalaysia.com.

Thanks guys!

NB: PETROVIC is in charge of performances on the day. Please e-mail me (Aida, your ever-faithful secretary) for more information, for anyone who wants to volunteer, or who has ideas. There are some events which have choreographers but not performers, so anyone who is interested, please let me know so I can forward you to the right people. Let's try and do the best we can for our parts – and let's make this event the best it can be!

Wassalam and cheers guys!

Bringing you your daily dose of what's happening, or will be. Mark these dates in your social calendar, people!

1.       MASCA NCG BRISBANE

Dear Victorians,

Last year, Malaysian students studying in Australia had an excellent time during MASCA National Conference and Games (NCG) 2007 that was held in Melbourne. Victoria gloriously won second place. Malaysian students from all over Australia will congregate in Brisbane over the winter holidays to take part in various sporting events, the MASCA annual general meeting and a fabulous masquerade ball as the traditional end of the NCG where winners are celebrated, MASCA Idol is contested and everyone gets a chance to eat, drink and be merry.

This year, Victoria will be sending 170 athletes to represent this state and compete in various sports including Frisbee, Sepak Takraw, and Athletics. Together, we will strive for the champion title. We welcome supporters to support our contingent.

There are four packages on offer (please refer“Packages-2.pdf”):

Feel free to buy your own flight ticket; just notify MASCA Victoria beforehand. The prices will be subsidized, but the amount is not finalized yet, as it depends on the amount of sponsorship that we obtain. If you would like to help find sponsors, we have prepared a draft. Feel free to edit it to suit your purpose.

For more information, please visit our website http://www.mascavictoria.com.au and also http://qld.masca.org.au. Plus we have a facebook group. Feel free to join.

Salam and hello to everyone

Petrovic would like to invite everyone to talk a break from their mid-semester stessors and assignments to have a fun, light-hearted night out with friends for our first ever:

GAMES AND TRIVIA NIGHT!

There will be prizes (because we love all of you so much), fun and games. Details are as below.

Location               : Multipurpose Hall, College Square Lygon St

Date                      : 25th April 2008 (Anzac Day)

Time                      : 7.45 pm until 10.00 pm

Food will be sent to College Square that Friday for all those who are staying in the city. If you have a valid reason for not coming, please e-mail our welfare officer Rusydina at nur.rusydina@petronasvictoriaclub.org before Friday morning so she is able to inform our food providers.

All Petronas students are welcome to attend (because all work and no play makes us very dull boys and girls).

Hope to see you all there!
